John Scudder, the owner of Advantage Business Equipment, was originally trained by IBM in 1976 to repair IBM typewriters, word processors and dictation equipment. A 2 time winner of the “IBM Means Service” award for superb customer satisfaction and technical proficiency, he became a Chicago Branch Office specialist.

After 9 years at IBM, he left in 1986.. His superb training and customer management skills learned at IBM became important assets when forming Advantage Business Equipment in 1989. Advantage quickly grew, servicing copiers, computers, computer networks, printers, fax machines, shredders, dictation equipment, paper handling equipment and typewriters.
